COMPETITION PRIMO MAGGIO SQUARE

REDEVELOPMENT AND REFUNCTIONALIZATION OF PRIMO MAGGIO SQUARE The project takes shape from the analysis of the relationship between the pure geometric shape of the large elliptical garden and the curtain walls that overlook it; the ellipse is reinforced thanks to the introduction of a border, a long belt of white stone that gives shape and strength to the geometric figure and at the same time separates the road from the garden where there must be no mingling, while connecting the square to green when the connection is direct and pedestrian. The slopes of the castle hill become a large natural platform and furnish the elevation allowing to take advantage of the natural slope towards the valley, while the “Giardino Grande” becomes a unique space and joined to the historical center through the new paved surface. At the edges of the new square there are two filter spaces, where the green acts as natural furniture and allows to filter the urban space from the surrounding transit roads.
